Bud Light Tag’s Return To Enniscrone
The return to Enniscrone was always going to be a memorable day for all present. So with the sun shining, the temps balmy and the sand just perfect for playing Tag rugby upon, another great weekend of Bud Light Tag Beach rugby was guaranteed.
On a warm and humid Saturday at the beach and as the music filled the air, the captains’ briefing got underway after midday with the referees having their pre-games ‘pow-wow’ soon after.
Games kicked off at one o’clock as each of the four leagues got underway.
Each of the five pitches in place delivered the kind of games that were to be expected, all played with fun in mind, exemplifying the spirit of Bud Light Tag rugby.
The group winners went on to Semi-Finals for the Cup, runners-up for the Plate, Third place for the Bowland the fourth placed teams the Spoon. and the group runners-up into semis for the Bowl.

As Semis began, everyone made their way to the sidelines and settled down for some playoff action. For the Spoon, Brusna defeated the Funky Town Monkey Pimps in the Final with a scoreline of 7-5. In the Bowl, Dail Maul were eventually beaten by Untaggables 10-7 and in the Plate, Crockets beat The Inbetweeners 6-3.
Following on from turning a 3-0 loss into a 4-3 win in the Cup semi-final, Mick Galwey’s Munster Legends overcame Guten Tag to nab the last silverware of the day.
What a day it was but was it all over? Not in the slightest. In the true tradition of Bud Light Tag rugby being the quintessential ‘Game of Two Halves’, everyone met up at the Diamond Coast Hotel to jump onto the bus provided to teams that would take them to the Trophy Presentations at Ballina RFC where a truly great night was had by all including some of the liveliest singing you’re likely to see, followed by the ‘must-see-for-anyone-visiting-Ballina’ trip to Crockets On The Quay.
Not only were the winners and semi-finalists presented with their hard-earned crystal trophies but teams who won 10 tickets to witness the first ever game of rugby at the Aviva Stadium in the O2 Challenge on July 31st, received their prizes too.
Many many congratulations and thanks to all the players no matter if they won a trophy or not.
