Clancy Appointed For Tri Nations

Ireland’s George Clancy will take charge of his first Tri Nations game this summer, filling in for the injured Bryce Lawrence when Australia host South Africa on Saturday, July 24.

George Clancy, who refereed the first Test between New Zealand and Wales in June, has taken charge of eleven international games since making his IRB debut in 2006.

Clancy joins Ireland’s other experienced international referees, Alan Lewis and Alain Rolland, who are also in charge of a number of Tri Nations games this summer.

Lewis will referee the opening game of the tournament between New Zealand and South Africa in Auckland on Saturday, July 10. Rolland is one of the assistant referees for this game along with Australia’s Stuart Dickinson.

Rolland will take charge of the second Test between the top two world ranked teams a week later in Wellington. He will also be in charge of the August clash between South Africa and Australia in Pretoria.

Clancy’s assistant referees for the clash between the Wallabies and South Africa are Keith Brown and Vinny Munro, both from New Zealand.
