Corrigan To Coach Greystones

Greystones RFC have announced that Reggie Corrigan has been appointed as the club’s head coach for the 2010/11 season, as the County Wicklow side try to bounce back from their recent relegation.

This past season has been a disappointing one for a young and talented Greystones side as they finished bottom of the pile in AIB League Division 2, winning only two of their 15 league games.

James Winstanley has stepped aside as head coach and ‘Stones have moved quickly to install one of their most famous sons, Reggie Corrigan, in the coaching role.

The local favourite has a huge amount of experience to call on, as a former Leinster and Ireland captain, and has most recently been working as Leinster’s scrum coach.

Coming on board with Greystones, he will continue to work for the province whom he played for 139 times before his retirement in 2007.

The loosehead specialist, now 39, represented Ireland on 47 occasions – 41 as a Greystones clubman, and six with Lansdowne.

He made his Ireland debut against Canada in November 1997, coming on as a replacement for fellow Greystones legend Nick Popplewell.

A key figure in helping Ireland lift the Triple Crown in 2004, Corrigan captained his country twice against Tonga and Samoa in 2003.
