du Preez Set For Munster Return

Munster Rugby have confirmed that South African prop Wian du Preez will be rejoining the province on a two-year deal.

Wian du Preez joined the Munster squad on a short term contract last November in place of the injured Marcus Horan. His time in the Munster jersey came to an end in the final Heineken Cup pool game against Northampton Saints at Thomond Park on January.

But having impressed during his short spell in Ireland, the player has agreed to rejoin Munster on a two-year contract, making the move from South African club Cheetahs.

The highly-regarded front rower, 27, will be a very valuable addition to the Munster squad in the run up to, and throughout next year’s Rugby World Cup.

Commenting on the signing, Munster team manager Shaun Payne said: “(During his first spell with us) Wian proved an extremely effective player with a massive work ethic and the ability to quickly adapt to the challenges placed before him. He was also very popular with the other squad members.

“We are delighted he has agreed to return and know he will be a hugely positive influence, both on the field and as a role model to the young Munster front rows who are coming through.”
