Connacht Plan Inis Mór Trip

Connacht’s new head coach Eric Elwood will take his squad to the island of Inis Mór at the end of July for a three-day visit.

The Connacht squad will have a number of fitness sessions on Inis Mór in addition to integrated games with the local community.

Head coach Eric Elwood said: “These trips are essential for us both as a team building exercise and as a way of getting out there to meet the public in places that wouldn’t necessarily be considered traditional rugby strongholds.

“We have retained the vast majority of our squad from last season and we are looking to build on the success of our Amlin Challenge Cup run and maintaining the team spirit is an important element of that.

“We are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to challenge the squad and also to interact with the people who come to our games week in, week out and this three-day trip provides the perfect combination of both.”

The Connacht squad will depart by ferry on Wednesday, July 21 and, in addition to training sessions and events with the local community, they will visit some of the island’s main attractions before departing for home on Friday, July 23.
