Ospreys Fined And Docked Points

A Celtic Rugby Disciplinary Panel met in Glasgow on Wednesday to hear a misconduct complaint against the Ospreys under the Magners League tournament rules for the 2009/10 season.

The complaint, brought by the Magners League tournament director on behalf of Celtic Rugby, concerned the Ospreys’ failure to fulfill the Round 11 Magners League fixture with Ulster on Friday, March  19 at Ravenhill.

The Celtic Rugby Disciplinary Panel was chaired by Professor Lorne Crerar (Scotland). He was supported by George Spotswood (Ireland) and Roger Morris (Wales).

The Disciplinary Panel found that the Ospreys breached the tournament rules and consequently their actions amounted to misconduct and imposed the following sanctions;

– A fine of £100,000
– A deduction of four (4) league points for the 2010/11 season

Both parties, the Ospreys and Celtic Rugby, have the right of appeal.
