Rolland To Referee Amlin Challenge Cup Final

Experienced Irish referee Alain Rolland has been chosen as the man in the middle for the forthcoming Amlin Challenge Cup final between Toulon and the Cardiff Blues on Sunday, May 23.

ERC, the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup organisers, have announced that Ireland’s Alain Rolland will control the Amlin Challenge Cup final between Toulon and the Cardiff Blues at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Sunday, May 23.

Rolland, who refereed the 2004 Heineken Cup final, will be taking charge of his first Amlin Challenge Cup final and his 62nd ERC match.

His assistant referees in Marseille will be fellow Irish officials Alan Lewis and George Clancy.

Meanwhile, England’s Wayne Barnes has been selected as the referee for the all-French Heineken Cup final between Biarritz Olympique and Toulouse at the Stade de France on Saturday, May 22.

At the age of 31, Barnes will become the youngest referee of a Heineken Cup decider.
