Ballymena Rascals Raise Funds For Wooden Spoon

Ballymena RFC Rascals, who were formed for the 2007/08 season primarily to cater for the P1 age group, decided this year to raise money for Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby.

To coincide with Ballymena playing Young Munster recent in the AIB League, 25 wee Rascals players took to the pitch to complete 250 shuttle runs, running between slalom poles and carrying the rugby ball correctly (and have a bit of fun at the same time).

The target was to raise £250, however we are delighted to announce they smashed this target, raising a brilliant total of £1000 through sponsor forms and collecting on the day.

Wooden Spoon, represented on the day by Jimmy Burns and Tom Little of the Ulster committee, were absolutely bowled over by the efforts of the Ballymena Rascals.

They want everyone to know that they are making a difference for boys and girls less fortunate in Ulster.

A credit to the section and the Eaton Park-based club, WELL DONE THE RASCALS!!!
