Last Wednesday, Ulster Rugby Community Officers Darryl Callaghan and Brian O’Shaughnessy took part in a Community Leadership Programme in Armagh called PASS – ‘Promoting Acceptance in Society through Sport’.
The aim of the PASS Project is to promote good relations within the Armagh City and District region through sport.
It promotes sport as a means of bringing people together from different backgrounds, and provides them with the skills and information to challenge negative stereotypes.
The project allows participants to come together and share their experiences and explore attitudes around racism and sectarianism.
PASS aims to break down barriers and increase understanding of the benefits of long term participation in sport.
Ulster Rugby Community Officers Darryl Callaghan and Brian O’Shaughnessy delivered a short coaching session on Tag rugby, to show how rugby can promote good relationships in society.
The session also provided participants with the experience of playing a sport that they may not have done so in the past.
The Ulster Branch of the IRFU will continue to support the work of the PASS Community Leadership Programme.
