Finn Becomes Dolphin’s Latest Centurion

Blindside flanker George Finn celebrated his 100th appearance for Dolphin when he lined out for the Cork club against St. Mary’s College in AIB League Division 1A last Saturday.

Playing his part in the 21-13 victory at Musgrave Park, George Finn became the fourth Dolphin player to reach the 100-match mark, following in the footsteps of John O’Mahony (123 appearances), Donnchadha Murphy (122) and Dave Pomeroy (111).

Finn has started 86 matches and been used as a replacement on 14 occasions. His match record is 55 wins, 43 losses and 2 draws.

In all, he has played against 30 teams wearing the Dolphin colours and in the flanker position has scored a total of eight tries, his first against Barnhall back in October 2004.

He made his first AIB League appearance for Dolphin alongside his brother Andrew, an AIB Club international player, against Carlow in October 2003, and did not miss a game over his first four seasons – 64 in total.

Of course, George has played both with and against Andy in the AIB League – versus Shannon and Garryowen – and also against his other brother Colman (UL Bohemians).

Dolphin RFC would like to acknowledge George’s contributions to the club and look forward to him adding to his tally over the coming seasons.
