Cormac O’Flynn brought his kicking boots to Musgrave Park on Saturday afternoon, firing over seven penalty goals as Dolphin got the better of St. Mary’s College on a 21-13 scoreline.

Deputising for injured captain Barry Keeshan, Ireland Under-20 squad member Cormac O’Flynn slotted in at out-half and produced an assured place-kicking display to drive Dolphin to only their second win in five league games.
St. Mary’s, the former Division 1A leaders, hit the front early on and scored the only try of a closely-fought encounter. Former UCC full-back Gavin Dunne knocked over a penalty from 15 metres out to open the scoring.
O’Flynn, a key member of this season’s Munster Under-20 side, showed no signs of nerves as he converted penalties after 8 and 11 minutes.
Dolphin’s lead was shortlived though, as Mary’s winger Darragh Fanning found a way through under the posts on 23 minutes for a try that Dunne easily converted.
However, O’Flynn replied with a 40-metre penalty within a minute of that score and another successful kick, on the half hour, gave Dolphin a 12-10 advantage to take into the second half.
And while Dunne may have shot the Dubliners back in front, just after the restart, Dolphin’s commitment and urgency up front saw them take the spoils in the end.
They also denied Mary’s a losing bonus point as O’Flynn landed penalty efforts after 50, 60 and 73 minutes to guarantee a much-needed win for Steve Ford’s men.
