Garryowen Youngsters Attend Referee Course

Members of the Garryowen FC Academy recently attended the IRFU Associate Referee Course held at Dooradoyle under the watchful eye of former international referee David McHugh.

The primary purpose of the IRFU Associate Referee Course is to give coaches and players a basic knowledge of refereeing, and a better understanding of referee principles and the laws of the game.

Coaches and players are required to complete the course if they wish to referee age-grade games, training games and blitzes.

When refereeing, it is essential to provide a safe environment in which teams can play.

Garryowen plan to utilise this associate referee resource in age-grade games in the coming months.

Upcoming Associate Referee Courses:

Sunday, January 3, 2010: University of Limerick, 2pm-3.30pm

Sunday, January 10, 2010: Colaiste Stiofan Naofa, time to be confirmed

Clubs please note: If it is more than three years since your coaches or players last attended this course, they are required to attend again. The course is free of charge.

Please contact Siobhan Collins in the Munster Rugby Domestic Game Department if you wish to attend either of these course – siobhancollins@munsterrugby.ie or telephone 021-4323563.
