Ballynahinch Enjoy Whistle-Stop Trophy Tour

Ballynahinch Rugby Club were privileged to have the RBS 6 Nations trophy and Triple Crown at the club’s home ground of Ballymacarn Park last weekend. The two famed trophies, along with the four trophies ‘Hinch won last season, were taken to Down High School at lunchtime on Friday.

Pupils form the Preparatory department and the Junior schools were first to view the array of silverware, then the senior school had their opportunity to have a look at the cups during their lunch-time break.

After this, the trophies made their way to the High School in Ballynahinch where the school had organised a special afternoon assembly to give all the pupils a chance to view the various cups up close.

Ballynahinch Club President Alan Montgomery and Media Officer John Dickson gave a short talk about the cups and then the pupils had their photographs taken with the silverware.

Montgomery said: “It was great to be able to take these magnificent trophies to the schools.

“Down High and the High School Ballynahinch have produced many great players for our club over the years and much of the success the club has had in recent years has been due to the stream of quality players the two schools have produced for us over the years.

“I think the young boys and girls were impressed with what they saw, and it was great to be able to let them see the RBS 6 Nations trophy and Triple Crown up close.”
