Apprentice Star Helps UCD’s MBA Team

The MBA rugby team of UCD’s Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School announced today that Breffny Morgan of The Apprentice is to star in the calendar raising money for the MBA rugby team to attend the international MBA Rugby tournament at Duke University, North Carolina, with part proceeds of the calendar going to the children’s charity Barretstown (www.barretstown.org).

Breffny Morgan, a well known contestant on Bill Cullen’s current season of The Apprentice, now attends UCD’s Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.

Breffny became involved with the MBA rugby team to raise money for the team and the great charity it promotes.

Melvin McNamara, coach of the MBA side, said: “We are all excited to have Breffny joining us on the rugby team – he’s a great team player and has great ideas on fundraising initiatives for the club.

“He is taking an active role in ensuring that the School retains its MBA world title. We look forward to working and learning from him on and off the field.”

Both the men’s and women’s rugby teams participated in the calendar shoot. The men’s team, with eight titles in the last ten years, are determined to make it a fifth title in a row, while the ladies are looking to win their second crown. The team will be the only Irish team going to a World Cup this year.

Proceeds raised will be donated to Barretstown, a leading charity for children with serious illnesses. Barretstown aims to provide the children participating in their programme with unique outdoor activities to boost their self confidence.

The MBA rugby team chose Barretstown as their charity of choice due to the long established partnership with the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and because of their amazing efforts to bring joy to the lives of seriously ill kids.

The 2010 MBA rugby team calendar will be selling for 10 euro.

Those interested in supporting the team travelling to Duke University and Barretstown can purchase calendars by emailing: smurfitrugby2010@gmail.com.
