The Leinster squad took time out of their schedule to visit the children and staff at Temple Street Children’s University Hospital on Wednesday.

Commenting on the visit, Leinster team manager Chris Whitaker said: “We were delighted to be take the opportunity to visit the staff and patients of Temple Street Children’s Hospital today.

“The players have great admiration for the courage that the patients show in confronting their illnesses and it is touching to see the incredible strength that they show despite their hardships.

“We are conscious of the important role of our squad in the community, but visiting charities and hospitals is a labour of love for the players because it is inspiring.

“The team in Temple Street do an extraordinary job offering help, support and medical expertise to sick children and their families every day.

“We were thrilled to be invited and look forward to making visits again in the near future.”

The young supporters were delighted to meet their sporting heroes and the players spent plenty of time signing autographs and having photographs taken with the children alongside the Heineken Cup trophy.

Leinster Rugby selected Temple Street as one of its official charity partners and the team makes sure to visit the hospital whenever possible.
