New Rugby Club For Donegal

Tir Chonaill RFC, situated in west Donegal, has become the latest rugby club to become affiliated to the Ulster Branch of the IRFU.

Tir Chonaill RFC, which is situated in the Gaeltacht area of west Donegal, is the only rugby club in the area and is currently operating at Youth level.

The club already has between 50 and 60 players and around 15 coaches at Mini and Under-13 level and looks set to keep growing.

Tir Chonaill is a further example of the steadfast work of the Donegal Community Rugby Project and its arrival came about following a series of open evenings in the area.

The IRFU has pledged its support for the club and it has recently been visited by the National Domestic Game Manager, Scott Walker and Ian McIlrath from the Ulster Branch Domestic Game Committee.

Ulster Rugby’s David Humphreys also took time out from a recent family holiday to Donegal to visit the club.

The IRFU and its Ulster Branch would like to wish Tir Chonaill every success and it is once again pleasing to see another new club come into operation due to the work of the DCRP.
