Kyle Opens Ballynahinch Clubhouse Extension

Irish rugby legend Jack Kyle was the guest of honour at the pre-match lunch at Ballymacarn Park for Saturday’s AIB Cup clash between title holders Ballynahinch and last season’s runners-up Cork Constitution.

Jack Kyle is already and honorary member of Ballynahinch Rugby Club so it was most fitting that he should be present to cut the ribbon to officially open the new extension to the Ballymacarn Park clubhouse.

During the summer, a new kitchen, store, club shop and media room were constructed and fitted out, and on Saturday Cllr William Dick, Chairman of Down District Council, visited the club to hand over a cheque which was for a sports refurbishment grant which the Council awarded the club earlier this year.

Before Jack cut the ribbon to open the extension, he presented a signed photograph to Club President Alan Montgomery.

The photograph shows Brian O’Driscoll meeting Jack at the side of the pitch immediately after Ireland had won the Grand Slam in Cardiff last March.

Both men asked for six copies of the photograph each, they signed them, and Jack presented Ballynahinch with one of his six copies.
