Grand Slam Tour Hits Armagh

Armagh RFC was the latest stop on the Grand Slam tour. The club’s Ulster Rugby Summer Camp, sponsored by Centra, was one of the first ports of call on the Ulster Branch leg of the tour.

Following on from Ireland’s victory in the RBS 6 Nations Championship in March of this year, the Grand Slam silverware is currently doing a tour of schools, rugby clubs and other venues across the island of Ireland.

As part of the 2009 Ulster Rugby Summer Camps, sponsored by retailer Centra, the RBS 6 Nations Championship trophy and Triple Crown visited the Armagh RFC summer camp this week for the young participants to see the silverware for themselves.

Coming to a total of 17 venues province-wide, the Ulster Rugby Summer Camps are for boys and girls aged 6-13 years.

In addition, there was also a senior camp for young people aged 14-17 years.

Almost 1,500 young people will have participated in the five-day camps since the end of June at locations from Banbridge to Ballymena and Omagh to Bangor.

The Grand Slam tour has already taken in the Connacht and Munster branches and will be heading on to Leinster following the tour of Ulster.
