Level 2 Coaching Course 2009

The National Level 2 Coaching Course has just been completed in Enfield with 63 Head Coaches from all 4 Province in attendance. The six-day course was held over two consecutive weekends with 17 modules being delivered at the Johnstown House Marriott Hotel.

Stephen Hilditch (Chairman, IRFU Domestic Game Committee) welcomed the coaches at the introduction and underlined the importance of accredited quality coaches at schools and club level.

Tutors on the course were Eric Elwood, Dan McFarland, Michael Bradley, Francesco Ascione (Italian Federation), Stephen Aboud, Colin Moran, Colin McEntee, Des Ryan, Allen Clarke, Ian Costello and Dave O’Mahony with assistance from Reggie Corrigan, Clem Boyd and Jamie Turkington.

This Stage 4 Rugby rugby course focused on the Player as a specialist, hence each rugby specific module examined developing functional roles of players; the characteristic of the Game was on achieving outcomes accross backplay, forward play & team play with the emphasis on the Coach as Facilitator between the demands of the Game and the comptencies of the Players.

The coaches who completed course attendance will now pursue the accreditation by fullfilling the following requirments:

Production of a periodised season plan
360 degree mid-season feedback report     
Successfully complete Practical Observations
Log 60hrs of coaching with a Stage 4 team
