Connacht To Face Madrid In European Opener

Connacht will begin their European Challenge Cup campaign with a home tie against Olympus Rugby XV from Madrid at the Sportsground on Friday, October 9.

Connacht’s home matches for the 2009/10 season have been scheduled for 7pm starts, but this is subject to confirmation.
After their home opener against Madrid, Michael Bradley’s men will travel to France to play Montpellier on Friday, October 16, for a game which will have an 8pm start (French time).

There will be back-to-back games against Worcester Warriors in December, with Connacht travelling to Sixways Stadium on Saturday, December 12, for a 3pm kick-off.

The English side will come to the Sportsground the following Friday, December 18, for a game which has a 7pm kick-off.

Montpellier, familiar European foes for Connacht, then be the next Challenge Cup visitors to Galway on the weekend beginning Friday, January 15, while Connacht will travel to Madrid the following weekend to round off their pool campaign.

The dates and times for these two final games have not yet been confirmed.

Friday, October 9: Connacht v Olympus Rugby XV Madrid, The Sportsground, 7pm

Friday, October 16: Montpellier v Connacht, Stade Yves du Manoir, 8pm

Saturday, December 12: Worcester Warriors v Connacht, Sixways Stadium, 3pm

Friday, December 18: Connacht v Worcester Warriors, The Sportsground, 7pm

January 14-17: Connacht v Montpellier, The Sportsground, kick-off tbc

January 21-24: Olympux Rugby XV Madrid v Connacht, Estadio Universidad Complutense, kick-off tbc
