Ulster Squad Announced For Scarlets Clash

Matt Williams has named a 25-man squad for Ulster’s last game of the 2008/09 season against the Scarlets at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday (kick off 7.30pm).

Ulster have faced Scarlets three times already this season, twice in the Heineken Cup pool games – gaining a home win and an away draw on the Welsh side – and they also opened their Magners League campaign with a disappointing 16-9 home loss to them.

Head coach Matt Williams is aiming to end the season on a high note with one last away win, coming off the back of last weekend’s 14-12 win over provincial rivals Connacht in Galway.

“It would be nice to beat a Welsh team because we haven’t beaten one in Wales all year,” he said.

“When we played the Scarlets away in the Heineken Cup in December, we played well and led for the vast majority of the game, and it was unfortunate to only come away with a draw.

“The Scarlets have to play three games in a week so we should be nice and strong going over there.”

ULSTER Squad (v Scarlets): Backs (10) – Isaac Boss, Darren Cave, Simon Danielli, Ian Humphreys, Mark McCrea, Timoci Nagusa, Niall O’Connor, Clinton Schifcofske, Ian Whitten, Cillian Willis.

Forwards (15) – Rory Best, BJ Botha, Nigel Brady, Ryan Caldwell, Robbie Diack, Neil Hanna, Carlo Del Fava, Willie Faloon, Declan Fitzpatrick, Justin Fitzpatrick, Stephen Ferris, Chris Henry, Matt McCullough, Ed O’Donoghue, Bryan Young.
