When Brian O’Driscoll raised the RBS 6 Nations trophy aloft at the Millennium Stadium on March 21 this year it marked the end of one journey and the beginning of another – the Grand Slam Trophy Tour.
Throughout 2009 the RBS 6 Nations and Triple Crown trophies will be on tour to the four corners of Ireland and everywhere in between.
The Grand Slam Trophy Tour is a chance to create a lasting legacy from Ireland’s historic victory.
The two trophies will be brought to rugby clubs, schools and events in the four provinces during the year giving players, coaches, volunteers and rugby fans a chance to share in one of the greatest days in Irish rugby history.
Already the trophies have been in all four provinces from the Aviva Stadium to Ravenhill to Ballyhaunis RFC and on to Thomond Park recently.
The Grand Slam Trophy Tour will be coordinated through the four provincial branch offices and each province will have the trophies for a period of time during the year.

The Grand Slam Trophy tour echoes the words of Ireland coach Declan Kidney when he spoke about the win being the culmination of the work of all those in the clubs and schools, the grassroots of Irish rugby who made the historic day possible.
