Elsom Wins Leinster Player Of The Month Award

Leinster back rower Rocky Elsom has been announced as the province’s Bank of Ireland Player of the Month for February and March.

A prestigious award voted for by Leinster supporters, February and March saw Leinster secure victories in three exciting games against Ospreys, Ulster and Scarlets.

Rocky Elsom made a significant contribution in all three games but it was his dominant presence in the closely run Ospreys game and rampaging performance against Ulster, which helped secure a bonus point win, that were particularly noted by the supporters.

Speaking about his award win, Wallaby star Elsom said: “I am delighted to accept this award.

“Sunday’s Heineken Cup quarter-final is another massive game for the team and it will be as close to Test match intensity as we can get.

“We’re mindful that Harlequins are the in-form team in England at present and they have a formidable back row and a number of influential playmakers.

“The Heineken Cup is a different competition to the Magners League and the intensity of last weekend’s game against Munster was good preparation for us, even though the result was undoubtedly a disappointment.

“There has been a real edge to training this week and there’s no doubt that we will need to be at our best to get the right result.

“To receive this recognition from the Leinster supporters is humbling and I hope that we can bring them success this weekend.”
