Munster ‘A’: Try: Niall Ronan

After a slow first 40 minutes, the pace soon picked up in the second half of this Shaw’s Bridge tie. Munster ‘A’ hit back with a last-minute try from flanker Niall Ronan but Ulster ‘A’ had done enough to deserve the win.

Ulster ‘A’ out-half Niall O’Connor kicked a penalty for the only points of the opening half, giving the hosts a 3-0 interval lead.

Ulster ‘A’ winger Mark McCrea, who has made his mark with the senior squad this season, scored the first try of the game 15 minutes into the second half.

O’Connor converted and ten minutes later, Isaac Boss increased the advantage for Gary Longwell’s side by scoring a superb solo try.

Boss, who was covering as a utility back, had come on in the 57th minute in place of the injured captain Bryn Cunningham.

O’Connor’s successful conversion left the score 17-0 and Munster ‘A’ gained some late consolation when openside Ronan got over for a try which out-half Jeremy Manning failed to convert.
