Volunteer Recognition For Bantry Bay Duo

The Right Price Tiles Volunteer Recognition Programme was launched in Munster to give clubs and schools the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contribution made by individuals and groups who have developed, promoted and/or advanced the sport of rugby in the local community and in the province.

The February award was jointly presented to Bantry Bay RFC members Richie Reynolds and Neill Clarke at the Munster v Edinburgh game in Musgrave Park last week by the Vice President of the Munster Branch, Declan Madden.

Both Richie and Neill have been constants in the club since it reformed in 1992. They have both been actively involved in fundraising, organising events, attending Branch meetings and junior games as well as arranging fixtures and assisting with the preparation of pitches for games.

They have seen Bantry Bay RFC survive through the lean years but can now feel proud of their efforts with the club currently fielding more than 200 youth members, over 30 junior players and girls schools rugby now beginning to blossom.

The highlight so far came at the end of the 2007/08 season when the underage section won the Munster Mini section Club of the Year award, which was a huge achievement for a club of its size.

Congratulations to Richie and Neil from IrishRugby.ie.
