Recently Kairos Communications, who are contracted to RTE for news film productions, visited Westport in County Mayo to film and interview the ‘beardy’ men of Westport Rugby Club who are involved in a sponsored beard shave for the charity Western MS.
The film crew met 18 of the 35 club players participating in the charity event and for an hour-and-a-half they filmed the squad at a training session.
They also interviewed Fintan Gibbons, the main organiser of he event, and coach Pat McCormack, who were asked about the aims of the event and how it was progressing.
The news item will be appearing on RTE shortly and is looked forward to by the ‘beardy ones’ who braved the recent cold and snow to exhibit their playing skills and hirsute faces for the cameras!
