Quarter-Final Time In The AIB Cups

There will definitely be new AIB Cup champions this season as holders Shannon were knocked out by Ballynhinch recently. The quarter-finals this weekend will go a long way to deciding the destination of the trophies in the AIB Cup and AIB Junior Cup.

This weekend sees a return to cup rugby as the quarter-finals of the AIB Cup and AIB Junior Cup are down for decision.

With holders Shannon knocked out by Ballynahinch last time out, all eyes will be on Crowley Park in Galway to see if the Division Two side can gain a semi-final slot at the expense of Galwegians.

Another eagerly-awaited tie sees Dolphin play host to local rivals and current AIB League Division One leaders and former AIB Cup champions Cork Constitution.

There is a strong Munster complexion to the other two quarter-finals with three out of the four teams from the province.

Garryowen play host to Buccaneers while Young Munster will host UCC in the final tie of the day.

In the AIB Junior Cup, holders Navan will host Ballymoney while last season’s beaten finalists Tullamore are on the road to Westport.

A third Leinster club, Cill Dara, are at home to Richmond, while Cashel make the trip to the Palace Grounds to face Armagh.
