O’Gara And Warwick In Contention For Munster

Ronan O’Gara and Paul Warwick have both been included in Munster’s 26-man squad for their Heineken Cup Pool 1 top of the table clash with Sale Sharks at Thomond Park on Friday (kick-off 8pm).

Ronan O’Gara missed the province’s trip to Wales last weekend after tweaking a hamstring in the game against Ulster.

His replacement for the game against Ospreys, Paul Warwick, retired injured after receiving an eye injury in the 33rd minute.

Both trained with the squad on Wednesday morning in the wind and rain in Musgrave Park and afterwards the squad was announced at a media briefing in the Heineken Brewery.

Speaking at the briefing, Munster coach Tony McGahan confirmed: “We have a few players coming back this week – (Marcus) Horan, (Ronan) O’Gara and (Keith) Earls being the main ones. Ronan is fighting fit and ready to go.

“We were very disappointed with the performances (against Connacht and Ulster), individually and as a group.

“Last week the Ospreys game gave us an opportunity to get things back where we needed to go to.

“We did that and are pleased to be going into this weekend against a very good side with some sort of performance behind us.”

MUNSTER Squad (v Sale Sharks): Backs (11) – Denis Hurley, Doug Howlett, Keith Earls, Barry Murphy, Kieran Lewis, Lifeimi Mafi, Ian Dowling, Paul Warwick, Ronan O’Gara, Peter Stringer, Tomas O’Leary.

Forwards (15) – Jerry Flannery, Denis Fogarty, Timmy Ryan, Federico Pucciariello, Marcus Horan, John Hayes, Donncha O’Callaghan, Mick O’Driscoll, Paul O’Connell, Donnacha Ryan, Alan Quinlan, John O’Sullivan, Niall Ronan, David Wallace, Denis Leamy.
