Galwegians Progress To Third Round

Galwegians confirmed their place in the AIB Cup’s third round in January with a comfortable enough win over Highfield at Crowley Park on Saturday afternoon.

‘Wegians got one over on their former coach Paul Young, who is now is charge of Highfield, to set up a New Year clash with Nenagh Ormond.

A try from South African centre Chris Brigl helped the hosts on their way to a 13-3 half-time lead.

Further touchdowns from Matt Brandon and Liam Casserly made it 27-3.

And while injuries forced ‘Wegians to finish the game with 14 players and Highfield managed to rally with late tries from Peter Martin and Anthony Wise, this was a deserved home win.
