Gaffney: We’ve Got To Take Our Opportunities

Admittedly ‘disappointed’ with how things panned out against New Zealand, backs coach Alan Gaffney knows Ireland will have to be far more accurate if they are to challenge for Six Nations honours this season and gain revenge on the All Blacks in the future.

Speaking after the 22-3 loss to the All Blacks, Alan Gaffney said: “Obviously things didn’t go the way we would like them to in the first half. There is a lot of disappointment there.

“I suppose one of the good things is that we did create a lot of half-breaks – but we didn’t take advantage of them.

“We weren’t as clinical as we could have been or as accurate. But then again, you’ve got to give the All Blacks a lot of credit in that area.

“We did have opportunities. But you don’t get many opportunities against good sides like the All Blacks and when you get that opportunity, you’ve got to take it.”
