Munster had a tougher than expected win over Montauban as they began their Heineken Cup title defence at Thomond Park Stadium. Leinster came away from Murrayfield encouraged by a bonus point victory over ‘bogey’ team Edinburgh, while a packed Ravenhill saw Ulster go down fighting to Stade Francais.
