In Pics: Thomond Park Stadium Re-Development

Work on the new 26,000-capacity Thomond Park Stadium is nearing completion. As the photographs in our gallery show, the new-look ground is taking shape ahead of its grand opening in the autumn.

Construction work at the new Thomond Park, which has a seating capacity of 15,000, is coming to a close.

With the announcement this week of a new head coach in Tony McGahan, Munster fans are eagerly awaiting the start of the new season and a new era for the province.

Work at the new stadium, over the coming weeks, will centre on the completion of the dressing rooms, museum, shops, bars, corporate boxes, hospitality suites and TV studio.

The roof on the West Stand also has to be finished and the seats in both stands, which will be blue, yellow and red, are to be installed in August.

Project manager Tony Kennedy said: “There won’t be a bad view in the house. Things are going to plan out here.

“The supporters are going to be thrilled when they see their new home ground this autumn.”
