DHL Exiles Sevens Squad For Amsterdam

The Exiles DHL Sevens squad, fresh from competing in Kinsale recently, will hope to avoid the South African Sevens side, coached by Paul Treu, who will play as Samurai International in Amsterdam this coming weekend.

The South Africans will use the tournament to prepare for their summer schedule.

The Irish Exiles DHLSevens squad are one of the seeded sides in the tournament and are predicted to reach the quarter-finals as are the Samurai, Marauders (winners at Kinsale), Millfield Old Boys and Rugby Ecosse (Scotland Sevens internationals), for example, in what is a very tough competition full of quality Sevens squads.

The Exiles are light on forwards and are bringing in London Irish flanker Harry Rowland, who is just back from injury.

Brendan Burke, the Bedford full-back who played in Kinsale, remains in the squad, along with Matt Williams, Matt O’Regan, Peter Phelan, Gareth McComb, Jon Hill and John Paul Filler who all played well in Kinsale.

However, the squad will miss Paul Devlin, the former Ireland Under-21 international, and the injured Irish Sevens international Mark Bruce.

DHL Exiles Sevens Squad: John Paul Filler, Jonathan Hill, Gareth McComb, Peter Phelan, Patrick Gill, Brendan Burke, Matthew O’Regan, Matthew Williams, Max McDonald, Kevin Croke, Harry Rowland, & Sam McDonald.

Manager: Ces Shaw
Coaches: Kevan Bell and Peter Halsall
