Shannon RFC Statement

Shannon RFC have released the following statement in response to recent news articles concerning coaching appointments in the club.

Contrary to recent press reports, the Executive Committee of Shannon RFC has not decided on any positions within the club’s coaching and management structure for next season.

No official statement was issued from any source within the club over the last number of days, and it has always been club policy to divulge information through either the press officer or Club Officers.

Shannon RFC’s senior coach Mick Galwey, his management and players are 100% focused on winning Shannon’s ninth AIB League Division One title, firstly by attempting to overcome the onerous task of beating Garryowen in the semi-final  and then hopefully adding to their recent AIB Cup and Munster Senior Cup victories on Sunday, May 11.

Two of Limerick’s and indeed Ireland’s best club sides, Shannon and Garryowen, have earned the right to face each other to decide who will play in the AIB League Division One final and it is that goal that Shannon RFC are committed to – and not speculation on the make-up of future management structures within the club.

In the interest of all parties concerned, no further official comment will be made on this matter until Shannon’s involvement in the AIB League concludes.

Then and only then will the club be in a position to review all aspects within the club’s structures.
