Heaslip Wins Leinster Player Of The Month Award

The Bank of Ireland have announced Jamie Heaslip as the Bank of Ireland Leinster Player of the Month for March.

A prestigious award voted for by Leinster supporters, there were two action-packed games against the Llanelli Scarlets and Glasgow Warriors in March from which to rate player performances.

Leinster dominated both games and managed to secure a bonus point win over the Warriors that further cemented their position at the top of the Magners League table.

Ireland number 8 Jamie Heaslip was delighted to be presented with the Player of the Month award by Lorraine Griffin, Brand & Sponsorship Team, Bank of Ireland at the RDS recently.

His excellent performance in both games saw supporters repeatedly nominate him after each game. On receiving the award he said: “I’m delighted to receive the Player of the Month Award and thanks to all the fans for voting for me.

“I’m really looking forward to the game against Munster (on Saturday). They’re a team we know really well – and players that we know really well also. It’s definitely going to be a challenge and for now this is the one we are focusing on and nothing beyond it.”

Leinster face Munster this weekend and then Edinburgh away on April 18.

The province are averaging gates of around 15,000 so far this season, and with two of the final four Magners League games at home, they are sure to be awarded the best supported side in the Magners League for the second successive season.

Voting for the April Bank of Ireland Player of the Month is now open.

To vote simply e-mail information@leinsterrugby.ie with your player’s name and the reason you are nominating him. Entries from budding sports journalists will be in with a chance to win a €;100 gift voucher.
