Munster Girls Get Ready For East Midlands Match

The Munster Under-18 Girls team will face top English side East Midlands in their opening match of the season at Cork Institute of Technology this Sunday (kick-off 3pm).

The Munster Girls have a new captain this year in back rower Anna Caplice. She plays for Mallow and is a Munster veteran, having played in last season’s successful campaign.

Anna got some advice recently when Munster and Ireland stars Alan Quinlan and Donncha O’Callaghan dropped by to have a chat and pose for photos.

The occasion was to mark the start of this season’s campaign by the newest team in the Munster rugby family. Both Donncha and Alan were quick to wish the girls the best of luck and spoke with Anna about the enjoyment they get from representing the province.

Anna, who also captains her club side, is really looking forward to Munster’s schedule of games, as are the rest of the squad.

After Sunday’s game, the Munster U-18s will mett Ulster, who they played last season. and Leinster, who are lining out for the first time this season.

The introduction of interprovincial games for girls has resulted in a dramatic boost in the number of girls playing rugby. Best wishes to the squad and management for the season ahead.
