Exiles Feature For Ireland Under-19s In Victory Over Italy

Two Exiles – one previously capped and one ‘new boy’ – played for the Ireland Under-19s in their 23-0 friendly win over Italy at Malahide RFC last Saturday.

Openside flanker Sean Dougall was a member of last season’s successful Ireland Under-18 Clubs side, which reached the FIRA-AER U-18 European championshipfinal.

Sean is captain of the 1st XV at Barnard Castle School, that famed rugby nursery in North East England, and is a Leeds Carnegie Academy player. Methodist College Belfast pupils of yesteryear will remember his father Gregor as a winger.

Lock Ciaran Ruddock (pictured above) gained his first cap against Italy at the weekend. He has recently been signed by Welsh Premiership club Neath and is a Swansea University student.

Ciaran’s father Mike, the current director of rugby at Worcester Warriors, will, of course, need no introduction to Leinster followers particularly.
