AIB Cup Third Round Draw

The third round draw for the 2007/08 AIB Cup took place at Seapoint RFC on Wednesday. Defending champions Garryowen have been drawn at home to Ballymena, while Division Three standard bearers Bruff face a tough game away to Malone.

The draw for the AIB Cup’s third round was made by IRFU President Der Healy and Anne Maria O’Reilly, Sponsorship Manager of AIB, at Seapoint RFC. 

Having disposed of Lansdowne in the previous round, defending champions Garryowen now have a home tie against Ballymena to look forward to. Bruff, the only Division Three side left in the competition, face a tough game against Belfast side Malone.

Blackrock College were the first team pulled out and will entertain Cork Constitution, who beat them at Temple Hill on the opening day of the AIB League this season. Dublin sides Clontarf and De La Salle Palmerston will face each other in a Division One-Division Two match-up at Castle Avenue.

UCC face a difficult home tie against Shannon, while UCD and UL Bohemians will face each other in an all-student tie on the same day. Clonakilty will be on the road to St. Mary’s College while Old Belvedere will visit Glenina, the home of Galwegians.

All matches in the AIB Cup’s third round will be played on Saturday, January 5.
