Ulster Supporters Honour Neil Best

Ireland flanker Neil Best has been chosen as the Ulster Rugby Supporters Club Player of the Season for 2006/07. He received his award earlier this week from URSC committee member David Halleren.

Best has a season to remember as his Ireland career continued to prosper throughout the autumn internationals and the Six Nations championship, while he also put in some memorable displays for Ulster in the Magners League and the Heineken Cup.

The 28-year-old, who is a firm fans’ favourite thanks to his determination on the field and good humour off it, picked up his 100th Ulster cap last season and scored three tries in 12 league games.

This is the third year of the Ulster Rugby Supporters Club’s Player Of The Season award scheme. The perpetual trophy was scuplted by Bob Sloan, a member of the URSC.

The previous winners have been Matt McCullough in 2004/05 and Justin Harrison in 2005/06.
