The Ireland players, together with their Canadian counterparts, received their World Cup caps on Thursday at a special reception at the Conseil Regional d’Aquitaine in Bordeaux. See below for a photo gallery link.
IRB chairman Dr. Syd Millar, a former prop and team manager with Ireland, was on hand at the reception to present each player with his cap. Both Millar and the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dermot Ahern T.D., made speeches to mark the occasion.
The Irish squad and management were also presented with special momentos by Conseil Regional d’Aquitaine President Alain Rousset to mark their presence in the region for the World Cup’s pool stages.
