In Pics: Ireland Training In Dublin

The 37 players gunning for a place in Ireland’s Rugby World Cup squad were back in training on Bank Holiday Monday. The Irish coaching staff and players have switched training bases from Limerick to Dublin for this week and they trained at Stradbrook, the home of Blackrock College RFC, yesterday. See below for a photo gallery link.

The Irish players, including out-half Ronan O’Gara who is recovering from a minor knee injury, trained at Stradbrook ahead of today’s team announcement for the World Cup warm-up clash with Scotland on Saturday (Murrayfield, kick-off 2.30pm).

Commenting on Ireland’s RWC build-up, coach Eddie O’Sullivan said: “We have three games before we start the World Cup, full internationals against Scotland and Italy. In between we have a third game (against Bayonne) for which I understand a referee has just been appointed so that looks like going ahead.

“It is likely that the guys who play against Scotland will not play against Italy and vice versa. These games are part of our planning to ensure that when we arrive at the World Cup we will hit the ground running.”
