Level 3 Coaching Course Gets Underway

The Level 3 coaching course (Stage 5 LTPD) got underway at Malahide RFC recently.

The level 3 course is for Head Coaches working with advanced adult and representative teams.
The course develops the coach as ‘Leader’.
At the end of the course the coach should be able to demonstrate a competency in planning, alignment of plans empowerment underpinned by a greater self-awareness of personality and leadership style. 


The first part of the Level 3 Coaching Course was held at Malahide RFC from Thursday 31st May – Sunday 3rd June. There are 4 Coaches undertaking the two year programme – Colin McEntee & Peter Smyth (both Leinster) and Terry McMaster & Clem Boyd (both Ulster).


The main topics covered were Fitness & Conditioning (Fergal O’Callaghan – Munster), Game Planning (Stephen Aboud – IRFU), Personality Profiling (Claire Whittington & Ces Shaw – PTP Associates) and Mental Imagery / Relaxation (Dr. P.J. Smyth – University of Limerick).


The Coaches are now required to produce several planning & development tasks before returning in July for the second part of the course.
