Work Continues On Donnybrook Revamp

As our photo shows, work is continuing today on the redevelopment of Donnybrook as the traditional home of Leinster Rugby is turned into a modern 11,200-capacity stadium.

The main stand has already been knocked down, with the pitch also barricaded off as plenty of heavy construction vehicles bound in and out of the Dublin 4 ground.

The redeveloped Donnybrook will include a new main stand, with an increased seating capacity of 2,500,  additional concrete terracing on the north-west, north-east and south-east sides of the main pitch, 76 apartments at the Bective end of the ground, along with a new, three-storey clubhouse on the River Dodder side that will include a gym, offices, kitchens, a bar and a television and media press box along with corporate facilities.

There will also be a creche, six tennis courts, a scrummage area and a river walkway linking Anglesea Bridge with Herbert Park, while there are also plans for high-rise apartments at the Wesley end of the ground. There are also provisions in the plans for back pitch floodlighting, cycle parking and 116 car-parking spaces.

IrishRugby.ie hope to bring you further photos of Donnybrook as the redevelopment process progresses over the summer months.
