Irish Colleges Seeking Coach

Are you a coach looking to further your experience? The Irish Colleges Rugby Union are looking for suitable candidates for the position of Head Coach for the Irish Colleges XV

This is an opportunity for suitably qualified coach to gain more experience in a voluntary capacity as Head Coach to the Irish Colleges XV. You could be shaping the career of a future international – Irish Colleges alumni Eoin Reddan and Frank Murphy are in action for Ireland and Ireland ‘A’ this weekend, which just goes to show that the route to rugby success can be by many paths.


The Irish Colleges play against the English, Scottish, Welsh and French Universities and the UK Combined Services U-23 side during the months of February, March, April  and select from  players attending a course in an ICRU affiliated College within the four Provinces.

Tha coach would be required to attend the Interprovincial semi-finals and final, normally held before December.

The position of Head Coach is a volunteer post with responsibility for the preparation of the Irish Colleges XV and liasing with the team manager on all matters concerning player welfare and team preparation. It is intended that the coach will be appointed for a 3 year term with a review at the end of the first season.


Candidates must be IRFU Level 2 accredited coaches with a minimum of 3 years Head Coaching experience at U19 to U21 or Club J1 to Club Senior XV (Stage 4 IRFU LTPD).
