Wallace Nursing Knee Injury

Ireland out-half Paddy Wallace injured his right knee in Saturday’s first Test against Ireland and is rated as 50-50 to be available for next weekend’s clash with the Pumas in Buenos Aires.

Jeremy Staunton has been called into the squad as cover for Wallace and leaves the Ireland ‘A’ squad that is taking part in the Churchill Cup immediately. Staunton is expected to link up with Eddie O’Sullivan’s squad later today.

In other injury news from the Ireland camp, both Andrew Trimble and Tommy Bowe picked up knocks in Saturday’s 22-20 defeat to Argentina. Trimble turned his ankle, while Bowe has picked up a shoulder injury and the Ulster pair are rated doubtful for selection for next Saturday’s second Test.

The Ireland squad have transferred from Santa Fe back to their base in Buenos Aires to prepare for the final game of the summer tour. They train today at Centro Naval.
