Test Series To Be Broadcast Live On RTE

In a statement released this evening, RTE Sport have confirmed that they have secured live broadcast rights for Ireland’s two-Test summer tour series against Argentina. The two matches – on May 26 and June 2 – will be live on RTE’s television, radio and internet platforms.

The statement confirmed: “RTE Television will broadcast both Test matches, beginning on Saturday, May 26 as Ireland face Argentina, live from Santa Fe. Coverage starts at 7.55pm on RTE Two. The teams will battle it out again the following Saturday – June 2 – with live coverage from Buenos Aires. Both matches are due to kick off at 8.10pm Irish time.”

The TV coverage will be presented by Tom McGurk with regular pundits George Hook and Brent Pope providing match analysis and Ryle Nugent on commentary duty.

RTE Radio will also broadcast live coverage of both Tests. The radio broadcast on May 26, which will be on RTE Radio 1 LW and MW, will begin at 8pm with Michael Corcoran and former Irish international Donal Lenihan providing commentary.

RTE’s Group Head of Sport Glen Killane said: “RTE are continuously striving to deliver the best sporting action to fans throughout the country.

“Following RTE’s RBS 6 Nations Championship coverage this year, which attracted the biggest ever audiences for the tournament on Irish television, we are delighted to be able to give viewers another opportunity to see their national team in action.”
