April-May Award For D’Arcy

Gordon D’Arcy has been named as Leinster’s Bank of Scotland (Ireland) Player of the Month for April/May, after a series of outstanding displays for the province.

In a month when he was named the IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year, D’Arcy can now add this month’s Leinster award to his expanding trophy cabinet.

An integral part of the Leinster team, D’Arcy is a worthy winner of this the last Player of the Month award for the province this season.

His performances against the Dragons, his try at home to the Borders and his overall commitment to the game ensured that this award was always destined for the Wexford native.

Speaking after receiving the award, a delighted D’Arcy said: “I’m naturally delighted to have been voted the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) Leinster Player of the Month because it’s always nice to see your efforts acknowledged by the supporters.

“They are the people who back you through thick and thin and our supporters are amongst some of the best in the world. I’ve been pleased with my own contribution and though we’re disappointed not to have got some silverware, we’ll be even more motivated to progress next year.”

D’Arcy, who is one of the players being rested for Ireland’s summer tour to Argentina, was the very first winner of the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) Leinster Player of the Month award when the initiative was launched during the 2003/04 campaign.

To mark his win, D’Arcy was presented with the last in the series of specially designed trophies by award-winning Dublin silversmith Seamus Gill.
