Murphy Drafted Into Ireland Squad

Geordan Murphy has been called into the Ireland squad as cover for winger Denis Hickie who suffered a back spasm in training this morning.

Leinster winger Hickie pulled out of the session in Dublin as a precaution and will be closely monitored by the Ireland medical staff over the next 24 hours.

Murphy was part of the Irish training squad earlier in the week but failed to make the matchday 22 named for Saturday’s RBS 6 Nations clash with Scotland, with Girvan Dempsey holding onto the full-back spot and Andrew Trimble retaining his place on the replacements bench.
