Pictured above: UCC and Munster centre Tim Keneally gets his legs pumping at Dubarry Park as Connacht’s Robert O’Beirne, Aidan Wynne and Martin Coyne try to halt his progress. O’Beirne (Ballinasloe), Wynne (Buccaneers) and Coyne (Connemara) were amongst the westerners’ best players on the day.

Munster prop Robaird Wilmot – one of eight UCC players in the province’s squad on Saturday – is felled.

Munster lock Richard McCarthy tries to see up ruck position as Connacht duo Paul Loughnane and Andrew Browne challenge him. Lock Browne is the Connacht captain and was capped by the Ireland Under-19s last season.

Connacht’s Paul Harte, one of five Buccaneers players to make the starting XV, has nowhere to go as Tim Keneally and UL Bohs full-back Mike Skelton wrap him up in a tackle.

Sean Carey of Ballinasloe and Connacht has UL Bohs and Munster winger Edwin Torrie for company.

Buccaneers and Connacht winger Alan Gaughan is caught in a tackle by Edwin Torrie.

Alan Gaughan tries to break through the Munster defensive line, with Andrew O’Driscoll, the Dolphin hooker, and Tim Keneally closing in on him.
