Ken Goodall RIP

The IRFU would like to offer condolences to the family and friends of the late Ken Goodall who died last week at the age of 59.

The IRFU would like to offer condolences to the family and friends of the late Ken Goodall who died suddenly last week.

Ken Goodall was capped 19 times for Ireland and scored three tries. He made his debut at the age of 19 in January 1967 against Australia in Lansdowne road – a match which Ireland won by 15 – 8.

Ken was a replacement for the British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa in 1968 but was injured during his first game.

Ken will be sadly missed by his former Ireland, Ulster and City of Derry Club mates.

“A wonderful, kind and very private man,” said Stan Huey, president of the Ulster Branch and a team-mate of Goodall at the City of Derry club.

Goodall retired a few years ago as vice-principal of Faughan Valley Primary School. He is survived by his wife Wilma, son Gareth and daughter Gail.
